Dr. Cuong V. Tran

He also earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Houston. Prior to his optometric training, Dr. Tran obtained valuable experience as an optometric assistant and optician for four years. During his diverse optometric education, Dr. Tran received extensive clinical training in the fields of LASIK co-management, cataract surgery co-management, eye diseases, neuro-ophthalmology, contact lenses, low vision, binocular vision, and pediatrics.

During his optometric training, Dr. Tran completed an externship at Coastal Eye Associates, where he worked closely with ophthalmologists specializing in LASIK / refractive surgery, corneal disorders/diseases, retinal pathologies, oculoplastics, glaucoma, and cataract surgery. He also gained considerable knowledge and experience in specialty contact lenses, complete primary eye care, and optometric co-management of cataract and refractive surgeries.

Dr. Tran also completed an externship at Hopping Eye Associates, where he obtained valuable optometric training in family eye care, contact lenses, eye surgery co-management, binocular vision abnormalities, vision therapy, and pediatrics. He also furthered his optometric knowledge by training as a student clinician at the University of Texas Medical Branch Ophthalmology clinic, where he gained valuable experience and knowledge in neuro-ophthalmology.

Dr. Tran's language skills include fluent English, Chinese, Vietnamese, and basic Spanish for eye exams. His Grand Rounds paper was selected for publication in the 2003 Institute of Optometric Practice journal. He is an active member of the American Optometric Association and Texas Optometric Association, as well as the American Optometric Association's Contact Lens and Cornea Section. He was named one of 'America's Top Optometrists' by the Consumers Research Council of America for 2009. His hobbies include traveling, basketball, tennis, movies, and spending valuable time with his wife and son.
