The End of 2021 and Your FSA

The end of the year is rapidly approaching and it's time to decide what to do with the rest of your FSA. While special pandemic rules allow some employers to roll over amounts or issue a grace period in 2022, it's better to use up the amount you had set aside for 2021 in 2021 and start fresh in 2022. Use the FSA or Lose the Money

You can't get that FSA money back, so now's the time to figure out what eye care services you haven't had for a while, and to stock up on vision correction, if needed. Spare sets of contacts, prescription sunglasses, and even cleaning supplies for glasses and over-the-counter eye drops for allergies or dry eye can count. Some of these can be automatically applied, but others require you to submit a form for reimbursement.

This is also a good time to re-evaluate how much you want set aside for next year. You may find that the amount you set aside in 2021 was too much, and you're scrambling to use it up. However, you can also leave the amount as is, in case of emergency, and just have another stock-up run at the end of next year.
